Frequency festival 2012

Hey kings+queens! I know, I know, this post is beyond overdue! In my defense, in the past month I got back to england, moved in my new house and started uni again.

But let's transfer back to August shall we? From the 14th to the 19th I returned to Austria for FREQUENCY FEST!
How to describe those four days? Minus the absolutely disgusting and uncomfortable camping, some of the best four days ever. We met some incredible people (and crashed at their house to shower!) who also got us backstage to meet Erol Alkan, and got through the insane heat and lack of sleep with lots of cocktails, sprinklers, and early morning swims in the river.

We saw some sick bands including The Killers, The Black Keys, Ed Sheeran (all in a row, swoon!), The Cure, The XX, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Dandy Warhols, The Hives, Hot Chip, Placebo, Block Party, Lykke Li.. just to give you an idea!

The Killers

The Black Keys

The Hives

Early in september my mum, stepdad and I drove all the way from Rome to England, stopping at Cinque Terre, Genova, Geneva, Lyon, Reims, Paris and London. It was suchhh a cool road trip.

Somewhere in Switzerland

Going back home to Rome for a weekend next week! I've lost a lot of weight, I need my mamma's cooking asap! Look out for amazing food photos with my film camera.

Lots of love,
C x

A midsummer night's post

Finally back to updating, on the terrace with a view of the sun going down behind the beach, drinking some almond milk.. this is the life!

Three weeks ago two of my high school friends came to visit me in Italy. In Rome I brought them sightseeing, made them try the best food in town, made piña coladas by the pool and at that perfect time of day when the sun is setting and the sky is a beautiful pink we drove around in my convertible Fiat 500 in search of the perfect aperitif spot.
We then traveled to my beach house in Southern Italy and spent an incredible beachy weekend there. More fantabulous food ensued, of course.

We then flew back to Vienna, where I finally got to see more of my high school friends. Such a laid back, spontaneous, dessert-for-lunch, perfect summer-chilled week! We beat the heat by travelling to nearby lakes, mountain tops and adorable smaller Austrian towns. We also did some Geocache treasure hunts through the city, you should check that website out, it drove us a bit crazy but so much fun!

I am now back in Southern Italy, but guess what? I'm off to Austria again in four days for the FM4 Frequency festival!
The Killers, The Black Keys, The Cure, The XX, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Hives, Placebo, Hot Chip, Lykke Li... and so many more!

Beyond stoked! I flipping love festivals. Give me a day when I get back to recover from the 4 days of camping but expect a massive, fun post about that when I get back!

ps. is Some Nights by Fun the soundtrack of your summer? Because it is for us! What's the soundtrack of your summer '12?

Reminiscing about Vienna

Thank you Lydia for requesting a post about Vienna!

As you may already know, I've lived in Vienna from 2007 to 2011 and I have such a soft spot for it. In 2011 it was voted the best city to live in, and I have to agree that living there (despite the cold!) was so glamorous and fun, especially since when I first moved there I was coming from four years in Morocco, such a massive change.

Walking around Vienna you feel like you're walking around in a fable, or actually, in a museum. Everything is spotless-looking and the buildings everywhere are just so fantastic. Another thing I loved is that it's famous for its traditional Viennese cafés, which offer incredible coffees and a crazy selection of cakes and where you can sit and just chill for hours on end and where you might just learn Freud used to sit at the table next to yours.

At the same time though it's so young and dynamic, there was always something going on, a new restaurant or brunch café opening, a cool exhibition at the ultra-hip Museumsquartier, a concert to attend, a bunch of rides to venture on at the Prater amusement park, some sort of festival, open markets and little hipster-ish stores to explore.

I'm just realizing now that while I lived there I took it completely for granted; I lived in a gorgeous house from the 1800s which I miss terribly, and Vienna was so beautiful and so super cool and right now I miss it so so much, I still feel like it's home and I haven't been there since last summer. However I just found out two days ago that I'm going back from May 24th to 27th! So excited!

I took these shots during my last week in Vienna, in July 2011.

These next few photos are kind of a compilation of 2007-2011.

Shout out to Yasmin who requested to see some of my street style photos. You shall see those next!

What would you like to see after that? Here's some suggestions: my summer in Ischia, any concert I've been to, Frequency music festival, Madrid, my 4 years in Morocco, more of what I did in Vienna.. let me know in the comments.
