See ya later, B-town!

My first year of university is officially over and summer 2012 has finally begun.

In the past 72 hours I have:

  • Finished my last exam
  • Packed my room at our uni halls
  • Held a surprise party and had an amazing last night out
  • Slept two and a half hours before having to wake up (slightly hungover) at an unearthly hour to move all our stuff to a storage
  • Walked for hours
  • Spent my first night at a hotel on my own
  • Raided the sale at American Apparel
  • Flew back to Rome and went straight to a dinner party
and on this super-hot Sunday morning in Rome I am beyond exhausted.
Moving out of university halls was more emotional than I thought it would be. No more "Down it, FRESHEER!" or going to the flat next door when showers weren't working.
This first year at uni flew by, it seems like yesterday I was left by myself in the streets of Brighton to begin this adventure.

Anyway, three months of fabulous summer lay ahead, I have just booked my flights to Vienna in july and going to southern Italy in a few days.

SUMMER 2012, HERE WE GO!

Meet my future housemates!
Goodbye humble abode

Again, I took a lot of photos with my film and fisheye camera but we will have to wait for those. They'll come soon!
What are your summer plans?

Almost summer

Summer has somewhat began and I am lovin' it. I spent the last 10 days in Rome for my mum's and my birthday.
It was goodbye England's stormy 9 degrees C and heellloo 40+ degrees C Rome! I tanned, hung out by the pool, shopped in the center and had ice cream and 'grattachecca' breaks and jaaaa it's finally feeling like summer again! Rome is so fabulous during summer. I think recently moving to England has given me a whole new appreciation for summer, I think I love it even more (if that's even possible!). I took lots of photos on my film camera but we'll have to wait for those.

My stepsister even flew in from Germany and for my mum's birthday we went to Rome's oldest chocolate factory where all dishes (including fish, pasta and seafood!) were cooked in chocolate. Sounds crazy but nom nom nom! I felt like Augustus Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that night..
The next day my mum threw a massive party at ours for our birthdays with DJs, bartenders, and so much, so much incredible food. The next day was my birthday and we went to the Sistine chapel (I've actually never been, I'm such a bad Roman!) and went out to eat one of my favourite pastas, cacio e pepe. AND last night was my cousin's birthday who had a party to watch the Italy game with an insane buffet. All in all, bikini bod I am so not ready for you right now.

Meet my stepsister Annika

Post-party morning exhaustion

Oh and I almost forgot! On June 12th my mum surprised me with tickets to Madonna's concert! Let's face it, she was way more excited about this than I was. It was loads of fun though, I taught her the modern 'club dances' such as the fist pump and the stadium was invaded by gay guys who were absolutely fabulous and madly werk'd it during the show. I must admit, that woman is fieee-rce!

I'm flying back to England today to do one last exam and move out of my uni halls. From 43° C to 9° C.. sigh.
It's only for four days, Camilla YOU CAN DO IT!

For me summer officially and properly begins on saturday. Has your summer started yet?

Luminous and wired

After some very upsetting times and quite a bit of drama with my flatmate (we were supposed to go to the Coventry on tuesday), yesterday I ended up going to London to see Coldplay at the Emirates stadium.

Yesterday was one of the best days of my life. As you may already know, I am the ultimate concert junkie and I've been dying to see Coldplay for so long, but I knew this was going to be an entirely different experience.

Because of my last-minute change I got a seating place. At first I was bummed but, turns out, it was actually better that way. I just want to skip to the best part of it all; the glowing wristbands.
Every single one of the 58,000 people in the stadium got a wristband that would light up automatically during the show. There was one moment as they were playing Charlie Brown, when for the first time they turned all the lights off and turned all the bracelets on. Okay, guys, the entire stadium gasped from the beauty of what was in front of us; the pictures don't even explain and the magnificence of the sight is hard to explain in words, but just try to imagine 58,000 coloured lights glowing and moving around in the pitch dark as Coldplay is playing in the background.
I've only cried from beauty twice in my life; once was in 7th grade camp in the Sahara desert where I saw the most incredible sky and the Milky Way, and the second time was last night.
It was so incredibly beautiful! And it was HUGE!

Coldplay didn't just make a marvelous musical show (as they would, with their flawless music!) but they also created an insane visual show with the wristbands, actual fireworks, confetti, balloons, blow up butterflies around the stadium...
There were people of all ages, families with kids, elderly couples, couples of 50 year old friends, all there chanting to The Scientist and Viva La Vida and Fix You (my god, Fix You made me an emotional wreck!) and I found it all touching and super adorable. I jammed and sang along to every single song so loud I'm surprised I still have any voice at all! It's been 24 hours now and I am still freaking out.

The entire 24 hours yesterday were wonderfully perfect, it was such a fun day and I wish I could thank Coldplay for an absolutely unforgettable night.

Looking awful and cold but really really happy

What the stadium looked like lit up by 58,000 glowing wristbands

This week is Brighton Fashion Week and I had tickets to a fashion show today but woke up way overtired from yesterday so I decided not to go, whoops!
A busy week ahead, an exam, packing my room and then flying back to Italy.

Thank you for the lovely comments on my previous post, keep the suggestions of what you'd like to see next coming!
